Return to your natural state of harmony

Sound Meditations are experiences of therapeutic sound and music that soothe the nervous system, help restore mind and body, and invite a deeper sense of peace and well-being.

The therapeutic and intentional use of sound and music is an invitation into greater harmony, an opportunity to slow down, find greater focus, or meditatively turn inward to listen deeply and allow the body to re-calibrate and find regenerative rest.  It is simultaneously gentle and profound offering the listener a calming of the mind, a restoration of the body, and an insightful exploration within.

Sound acts as adaptogen, providing the restoration, release, or activation that each listener needs.  As such, each person will receive the sound differently and every session will offer a continuing unfolding of personal experience every time you return to your sanctuary of sound.

Therapeutic sound has been shown to increase alpha and theta brain wave activity present within deep states of relaxation and meditation, as well as improve mood, boost endorphins (which are the body’s natural pain killers), strengthen the immune system, reduce stress hormones, release oxytocin, and facilitate deep rest, all aiding in our natural ability to heal and achieve heightened levels of creativity, intuition, and insight.

What is a Sound Bath?

Popularized under the name Sound Bath, the experience of Sound Healing comes under numerous other titles, such as Sound Meditation or Sound Journey to name a few. The term Sound Bath is often used because one is immersed in a wash of sound wave vibrations. Each practitioner may have their own unique approach to the modality, though they are all a form of the intentional use of sound for therapeutic purpose. More succinctly, a Sound Bath is a practice of vibrational medicine utilizing the sounds, rhythms, and natural resonances of a variety of meditative instruments and acoustic objects, such as crystal singing bowls, Himalayan metal singing bowls, flutes, drums, rattles, tuning forks, chimes, gongs, and more to induce deep states of relaxation and access healing. The aforementioned instruments are sounded around, near, and some sometimes on the body.

What are the benefits of Restorative Sound?

The intentional use of sound facilitates a state of deep relaxation, helping to relieve stress, calm the mind, and restore the body. Experiencing sound in this way can facilitate the innate healing capacity of the body, as it soothes the nervous system, boosts immunity, moves stagnant energy, and restores systemic balance. Therapeutic sound also releases a flood of feel-good neuro-chemicals, offering a deep sense of peace and well-being.

How is Sound Healing different from other music or songs?

Although the sounds you will experience come from a variety of musical instruments and may utilize musical elements such as pitch, scale, and rhythm, this is not music in a traditional sense. It is not about creating songs with sound, but rather creating space, vibration, and resonance with sound. Therefore, the sound is purposefully unstructured to allow the mind to listen without anticipation or judgement.

What should I wear? Should I bring anything?

Wear comfortable breathable clothing, that will also keep you warm. Typically props will be provided, but feel free to bring whatever will make you feel more comfortable, such as your own blanket or yoga mat. Eye pillows are recommended to heighten your other senses, relax more deeply, and help you turn inward.

Do I have to lie on the floor?

Lying down is not required, yet is the position most prefer to enter a deep state of relaxation. Sitting up on a cushion or with your back up against the support of a wall, or even in a chair, if available, are all options.

Kind Words

“Done beautifully… Your sound takes one to a safe place of an open heart.”

— L.O.

“The vibrations of (Meg’s) instruments returned me to an unexpected place of warmth and comfort that had been absent from my life following periods of loss and grief. Very grateful for the gift of sound healing that Meg provides.”

— R.U.

“Thank you so much Meg - this was one of the most miraculous experiences I’ve ever had. I went in, not knowing what to expect, in a VERY bad mood and a VERY achy back - so much so that I almost didn’t come. I left almost 100% rejuvenated. It was amazing to me that about halfway through, my breathing, which is typically shallow, became huge, I was able to actually get off the floor when it was all over and my mood was fabulous.”
